Apex by Ramez Naam is the winner of the 2016 Philip K. Dick Award for Distinguished Science Fiction. Eligible science fiction was published in original paperback form in the United States in 2015.
Apex is the third book in the Nexus series, a near-future hard science fiction trilogy filled with neurobiology and espionage, and is preceded by Nexus and Crux.
The winner of the 2016 Philip K. Dick Award was announced March 29th, 2016 during an award ceremony at Norwescon 39.
The special citation award was presented to Archangel by Marguerite Reed.
The six nominated works that comprised the final ballot announced in January were Apex by Ramez Naam, Archangel by Marguerite Reed, Edge of Dark by Brenda Cooper, After the Saucers Landed by Douglas Lain, (R)evolution by PJ Manney and Windswept by Adam Rakunas.
