A girl wakes up. She is strapped down in a dark box. Why is she in this coffin? She doesn’t know. She doesn’t even know her own name.
One thing is sure; she is alive to pursue the answers.
Why is this on our bookshelf?
Alive is a suspenseful page-turner with a sci-fi undertone that is brilliantly well-written. If you’ve ever been glued to a videogame to see how the story unfolds next, you’ll obsessively turn pages all the way to the end.
Rating (5 stars)
The quality that makes Alive so extraordinary is the suspenseful unfolding of the mysterious circumstances.
Every puzzle solved brings new questions and with each page, each unsettling clue, the story gets stranger and more exciting.
Needless to say, the book is a fast-paced read as curiosity will stop most readers from ever setting the book down. Author Sigler deftly creates space in the plot for character development, but brief moments of stillness are filled with eerie uncertainty.
At its conclusion, the book deftly wraps up the primary questions, satisfying readers, but leaves a few small mysteries remaining for subsequent books.
I refuse to say more— you can only read it for the first time once.

“For fans of The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Red Rising comes a gripping sci-fi adventure in which a group of teenagers wake up in a mysterious corridor with no knowledge of who they are or how they got trapped. Their only hope lies with a young woman who must lead them not only to answers but to survival. This strong female character will discover the truth. ” Read this on Scott Siegler’s website. Wow! Sounds amazing! Will definitely put this on my must-read list!
