Two major geeky franchises crash together in the eight part comic story Assimilation2 . I feel like much of geekdom was waiting desperately for an official Star Trek and Doctor Who crossover, and finally it arrived in glorious full-color pages.
Now combined together to make up two volumes, Volume 1 contains the first four parts of the story. In a perfect villainy team up, the Cybermen and the Borg join forces.
Why is this on our bookshelf?
Oh, come on. Do you really need to ask?
Rating (5 stars)
Sometimes I get a bit nervous when I hear about a crossover; there are just so many ways it can be done badly. I’m happy to say that this was very well done. My major fangirl *squee* moment was the (spoiler) cameo appearences of the original Trek crew (Spock!) and the Fourth Doctor.
As a disclaimer, I’m not a major reader of comic books and graphic novels. Embarrassingly, I always seem to miss the important info communicated through the pictures. Still, this might make me a believer.
Read this book:
Because it is so well done you can nearly hear the voices of the Doctor, his companians and the trek crew. This is something we wish we could see on screen.
Don't Read this book:
If you’ve either not reached the fourth season of Star Trek: The Next Generation or if you haven’t finished the 5th season of the new Doctor Who series.
Once you're done, do this:
Read Volume 2, of course!
This sounds so awesome… me wants!
