Ree is just trying to get through her shift at Grognard’s Grog and Games (a local bar/gaming hangout) when things go a crazy… starting with the gnomes….

Action Hero is the new extreme exercise system. Guaranteed to keep off the pounds, just as long as your life stays consistently perilous.”

Our favorite geekomancer is back in this short novella filled with geek-smashing action.

Why is this on our bookshelf?

Just like the first book (Geekomancy), this is a book so filled with geek it is dripping geekiness all over the place.

Gaming, steampunk, Sci-fi, comics– you name it and there is a pithy remark/wry joke/blatant reference to it.

Rating (3 stars)

I can’t rate this short story much higher than 3 stars. This story is like candy- tastes nice for a bit, but you can’t eat too much or it will make you sick.

Even the geekiness! I never thought I’d say this, but the constant references start feeling overused, and a bit forced at times.

I felt the same about Geekomancy, but for me Attack of the Geek actually has an advantage– it is much shorter at novella length.

Don’t get me wrong. I did enjoy it. In fact, I was under a bit of stress at the time and this was a perfect escape. Fun, overflowing with geek and uncomplicated.

Just don’t expect too much from this. Suffice to say, if you enjoyed the first one, you will like this side quest too.
